Decoupling Cross-Modality Manifold Discrepancy: Leveraging Visible Diffusion Priors for Infrared Super-Resolution

Yunpeng Hua, Hongwei Yu, Jiawei Li, Qiankun Liu, Huimin Ma, Jiansheng Chen

Infrared image super-resolution (IISR) mitigates the limitations imposed by low spatial resolution. Existing methods have recognized that IISR should preserve consistency in global distribution and structural information while enhancing image clarity. However, these methods are either insufficient or overly intrusive, a problem that becomes even more pronounced in diffusion-based models. To address these issues, we propose a dual-path diffusion-based framework for IISR, termed Shift-IISR. The proposed method is designed to improve the consistency of IISR results while preserving the generative capacity of diffusion models. Specifically, we develop a Global Representation Modulation (GRM) module to extract modality-specific information from infrared imagery and guide the global distribution of the diffusion model toward the ground truth. In addition, we introduce a Local Structure Refinement (LSR) module to encourage the model to focus on structural information at each step of the iterative denoising process. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed method effectively improves distributional and structural consistency while maintaining competitive super-resolution performance. The source code of the proposed Shift-IISR can be available at https://github.com/Assassink8/Shift-IISR.

Rarity-Aware Discrete Diffusion with Spatially Consistent Decoding for Photo-Realistic Image Super-Resolution

Ao Li, Yapeng Du, Yi Xin, Lei Zhu, Le Zhang, Guangtao Zhai, et al.

Continuous diffusion models have become the dominant paradigm for photo-realistic image Super-Resolution (SR), but they typically formulate reconstruction as continuous signal-level denoising and incorporate semantic priors through external conditioning modules. This makes it les…

Diffusion-based methods have achieved impressive performance in real-world image super-resolution (Real-ISR) by leveraging large pre-trained stable diffusion (SD) models as powerful generative priors. However, these methods still face two key limitations. First, existing SD-based…

Dual-Edged Homogeneous-Modality Similarity: Towards Visible-Infrared Modality-Incomplete Person Re-Identification with Modality Adaptive Matching

Xin Xu, Shuhao Zhan, Wei Liu, Zheng Wang, Kui Jiang, Chia-Wen Lin

Visible-Infrared Person Re-Identification (VI-ReID) operates under a closed-world assumption, where queries and galleries are from heterogeneous modalities. However, in open-world scenarios, both sets are likely to contain homogeneous and heterogeneous modality images. A query ma…

One Modality to Forget Them All: Enhancing Cross-Modal Unlearning in Vision-Language Models

Machine unlearning is widely used to remove hazardous knowledge from large language models. Modern Vision-Language Models (VLMs), however, process both text and visual inputs, raising a fundamental security question: does unlearning in one modality transfer to the other? We prese…

Multimodal sarcasm and cyberbullying detection remain challenging because the intended meaning often emerges from incongruity between textual and visual information rather than from either modality alone. Existing multimodal approaches primarily rely on feature fusion or cross-mo…

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is often acquired with anisotropic resolution to reduce scan time, producing stair-step artifacts along the through-plane direction. In through-plane MRI super-resolution, an efficiency-fidelity trade-off arises: feed-forward regressors are fast b…
