Learning Transferable Dynamics Priors from Action to World Modeling

Ze Huang, Jiahui Zhang, Hairuo Liu, Chenxi Zhang, Ran Cheng, Li Zhang

We study action-conditioned world modeling as a scalable way to learn transferable dynamics priors for robot learning. By pretraining a model to predict how actions drive visual scene evolution, the resulting world model captures reusable interaction dynamics beyond appearance-level video generation. Concretely, we pretrain a multi-view interactive base diffusion world model, A2World, on large-scale robot manipulation data with real action annotations. We validate the learned dynamics priors from two complementary perspectives. First, we adapt A2World into a task- or scene-specialized real-world simulator, A2World-sim, whose long-horizon rollouts support simulator-based policy evaluation and scalable what-if analysis by replacing real-robot rollouts with world model rollouts. Second, starting from the same pretrained weights, we adapt A2World into a video-action joint prediction model, A2World-policy, that predicts actions under visual and instruction conditioning. Experiments across simulation benchmarks and real-robot settings demonstrate that action-conditioned world model pretraining yields transferable dynamics priors that benefit both simulator-centric and policy-centric robot learning.

FlowWAM: Optical Flow as a Unified Action Representation for World Action Models

Yixiang Chen, Peiyan Li, Yuan Xu, Qisen Ma, Jiabing Yang, Kai Wang, et al.

World Action Models (WAMs) are able to leverage pretrained video generators for both world modeling and action prediction. However, directly leveraging such video generators for control raises a new challenge: how to represent actions in a suitable form that aligns with pretraine…

AeroAct: Action-Centered World-Action Models for Language-Conditioned Quadrotor Flight

Xinhong Zhang, Qiyuan Zhu, Yubo Huang, Haolin Chen, Runqing Wang, Yuhao Mo, et al.

Language-conditioned quadrotor flight requires a policy to ground semantic goals, anticipate the visual consequences of ego-motion, and output control references that remain smooth and dynamically executable under rapidly changing first-person views. Existing aerial vision-langua…

Steering Robustness into World Action Models via Mechanistic Interpretability and Optimal Control

Jihoon Hong, Julian Skifstad, Qiyue Dai, Alice Chan, Glen Chou

World Action Models (WAMs) enable semantically- and physically-informed control but are brittle under distribution shift. In this work, we use mechanistic interpretability to study how robustness-relevant perturbations are represented in WAM activation space. Comparing activation…

Depth-Regularized JEPA World Models Learn More Transferable Representations from Real Outdoor Robot Data

Usman M. Khan

World models, especially based on JEPA architectures, have been shown to learn robust dynamics of various environments. However, learning from visually complex real-world data remains a challenge, especially in unpredictable outdoor environments. We introduce depth as a geometric…

From World Action Models to Embodied Brains: A Roadmap for Open-World Physical Intelligence

Yuanzhi Liang, Xufeng Zhan, Haibin Huang, Chi Zhang, Xuelong Li

Artificial general intelligence ultimately requires agents that can reason and act in the physical world. Action models, vision-language-action policies, and world models have advanced this goal, while World Action Models (WAMs) are particularly promising because they connect can…
