A Survey Paper on Rural E-marketplace for Local Farmers with Chatbot for Pesticides

Likhith Reddy D, Prajwal Mallappa Sankanur, Kushal K, Dr. Deepak N R

Rural farmers encounter issues regarding market access, crop advisory services, and safe use of pesticides, which results in lower income and productivity. The authors propose the design and evaluation of a smart digital platform for a rural emarketplace with an integrated AI-powered pesticide-advisory chatbot. The platform consists of mobile and web portals, farmer onboarding, crop listing, real-time pricing; secure payments, geospatial mapping of farms, IoT-based monitoring of crops, and AI-driven personalized and context-specific pesticide and cultivation guidance on a crop-by-crop basis. We overview background terminologies, illustrate literature, discuss existing trends and challenges facing rural agriculture, introduce the evaluation metrics and benchmarks we developed, and present applications and use-cases. Directions for the future, limitations and policy considerations are presented. Overall, the digital platform aims to elevate incomes for farmers, promote safe and sustainable farming practices, and generate empowerment in rural communities.

Experimental investigation of the sequence injection effect of sea water and smart water into an offshore carbonate reservoir for enhanced oil recovery

Amir Hossein Saeedi Dehaghani, Reza Daneshfar

This study explores enhanced oil recovery (EOR) strategies, with a focus on carbonate reservoirs constituting over 60% of global oil discoveries. While “smart water” injection proves effective in EOR for carbonate reservoirs, offshore application challenges arise due…

Application of regression-kriging for lake-wide mapping of sediment shear strength on subaqueous slopes in Lake Lucerne

Anastasiia Shynkarenko, Paolo Bergamo, Katrina Kremer, Donat Fäh

This study presents a geostatistical framework for lake-wide mapping of sediment undrained shear strength (su) on subaqueous slopes in Lake Lucerne using regression-kriging (RK). The spatial variability of the increment of su with depth from the lake floor, modelled through a pow…
