A Zero-Shot Deep Image Prior Framework for Denoising and Deconvolution in Fluorescence Microscopy

Xiangyu Qian, Jing Liu, Yunqing Tang, Luru Dai, Qiushi Li

Fluorescence microscopy images are degraded by noise and diffraction-induced blur, which compromise structural fidelity and limit quantitative analysis. Supervised deep learning methods achieve impressive restoration performance but require large-scale paired datasets that are difficult to obtain in practice. To address this issue, we propose SDIP, a zero-shot deep image prior (DIP) framework that sequentially performs denoising and deconvolution without external training data. An aSeqDIP-based module first suppresses noise while preserving fine structures through sequential autoencoding regularization. In the deconvolution stage, a wavelet-based background correction step is incorporated before the proposed RLG-DIP module performs artifact-reduced deconvolution. RLG-DIP uses the Richardson-Lucy deconvolution result as a physically consistent guidance prior, integrating the imaging model with the implicit prior of DIP to stabilize the ill-posed deconvolution process. Experiments on the BioSR dataset across multiple cellular structures demonstrate that SDIP improves both signal-to-noise ratio and resolution, achieving superior visual quality and improved quantitative performance on most evaluated structures. The proposed framework may also provide useful insights for designing physically guided DIP methods for other inverse problems.

Attributes Should Come from Images, Not Class Names: Distribution-Conditioned Attribute Selection for Vision-Language Models

Gautam Rajendrakumar Gare, Jia Shi, Zhiqiu Lin, Deepak Pathak, John Galeotti, Deva Ramanan

A popular route to interpretable zero-shot classification asks a large language model (LLM) to describe each class name and prompts CLIP with the resulting descriptors. We show that these descriptors carry little visual evidence of their own: removing the class name from the prom…

Analyzing Image Encoder Choices and Graph Homophily in GCN Frameworks for Breast Ultrasound Classification

Sabahattin Mert Daloglu, Ceren Coskun, Harvey Castro, Soner Hacihaliloglu, Ilker Hacihaliloglu

Breast ultrasound is widely used for screening, yet automated analysis remains challenging due to speckle noise, acquisition variability, and weak separation of benign and malignant cases in standard ultrasound imaging. Graph convolutional networks (GCNs) have recently emerged as…

Adapting deep learning models to profound clinical heterogeneity typically relies on parameter-efficient fine-tuning (PEFT) to avoid the severe overfitting associated with full end-to-end network updates. Although PEFT successfully navigates limited data scenarios, it inherently…

The Lift Spectrum: How Measurement-to-Space Adaptivity Shapes Robustness in Image-Free Single-Pixel Sensing

Single-pixel sensing encodes a scene as a short sequence of coded measurements, and image-free methods infer the task directly from that sequence. Removing reconstruction does not remove the difficulty: it relocates it to the lift, the map from 1D measurements to a 2D representat…
